Healing Tides: A Biodynamic Touch
"Experience the healing of the Tides within you"
What is Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy or BCST?
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy or BCST: is a method of healing the human body and bringing the organism back to Wholeness.
How does BCST do this?
An RCST® or trained practitioner provides a container where the client feels supported and secure. Allowing the ‘Breath of Life’ to release inertia or unresolved kinetic energy in the form of
shock & trauma.
This non-invasive but profound therapy tracks a subtle ebb-and-flow of energy through the anatomy. This subtle energy is called: Primary Respiration or the 'Breath of Life'.
The 'Breath of Life' is more commonly known as: The Tide.
The practitioner usually sits quietly and tracks The Tide through the systems and tissues of the body. The process is as gentle as possible and may or may not be felt directly by the client.
The Tide resolves fragmented external kinetic forces or energy that are stuck or looped within the client's tissues. These points of stuck-ness are called: inertia points of shock and trauma. Inertia points can be found in any or multiple layers of the: emotional, energetic, physical, and psychological systems of the body.
Please note: The length of session does not account for the depth of healing that occurs.
Principles of Biodynamics Craniosacral Therapy:
-
Resolving Shock/Trauma Patterns (aka Inertia) regardless of time/age
-
Working with the Mind, Body, and Spirit for Full Embodiment & Health of the Whole System
-
Following the Inherent Healing Process by tracking The Tide (rhythm of: Breath of Life)
-
Healing happens in the Present Moment – holding both client & practitioner: Present
-
Recalibrating the Whole System for optimal Function & Flow
Biodynamic Cranioscaral Beginnings: Osteopathy to Massage Therapy
The "Breath of Life" is a term coined by Dr. William Sutherland, the founder of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy. According to Sutherland's insights, the human body is animated and sustained by rhythmic forces that exist in the natural world. These forces are responsible for creating, maintaining, and healing our bodies.
Dr. Sutherland discovered that there are subtle rhythms present in and around the body, and these rhythms are generated by an intelligent organizing principle that he referred to as the "Breath of Life." This principle encompasses the fundamental life force that underlies our physical and mental well-being.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapists trained in Sutherland's approach have developed acute perception skills to detect and work with these subtle physiological changes. They recognize that health is never lost, regardless of the ailment, and they focus on identifying parts of the nervous system that may not be functioning optimally.
By utilizing their awareness of the "always available health" within the body and working with the Breath of Life, these therapists aim to assist the body in restoring balance and promoting greater ease. The therapy involves gentle, non-invasive touch on a massage table, with the client fully clothed. The focus is on supporting the overall health of the individual, particularly the nervous system, which plays a crucial role in the body's functioning by constantly sending and receiving information.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is rooted in Dr. Sutherland's original work and his understanding of the interconnectedness of the human physiology and the natural world. It acknowledges the presence of a vital life force and aims to facilitate the body's innate healing capacity.
Experiencing a Biodynamic Session: During & After
Depending your needs, a session is determined by: The Tide & Inertia Resolution - not by the clock.
Biodynamic therapists: sit quietly, gently hold parts of your body, listen to the rhythms & track subtle changes in your anatomy & physiology.
Note: A single session can have noticeable effects, however; multiple sessions may be required. A session may be subtle (not a lot going on per se) or quite intense: physically, mentally and/or emotionally.
During the session, you may:
- Relax so deeply that you fall asleep
- Enter a quiet meditation-like state
- Feel as if you are dreaming while awake
- Experience: Memories, Insights, & Deep Emotions while on the table
- Feel the subtle to profound: temperature changes (heat/cold), melting or softening, widening or floating, simple physical body shudders/movements to more intensive movements.
You may be asked to: repeat phrases, move your body consciously or if you are able to 'Name' the subtle to intense emotions you may be feeling.
Biodynamic therapists are trained to recognize these patterns as they begin to shift. There may be changes in your fluids, tissues, bones and overall energy from tired to wired or vice versa.
You may experience other kinds of subtle to profound sensations as energy that has been held in the body is resolved and allowed to discharge. The discharge of energy is the resolution of inertia and a process of letting go of shock, trauma and patterns that inhibit your health and vitality.
At the end of the session, you may:
- Feel relaxed, but also energized (sometimes deeply fatigued as well)
- Find yourself breathing more fully & deeply
- Stand straighter & taller
- Feel more comfortable in your body/skin
- Surprised to feel a new sense of peace & ease
- Lighter as if a weight has been removed finally
- or “Just Different” but not sure why
- Notice an improvement in your sleep patterns
No matter what your experience, some time after you are off the table and ground yourself in your new body.
The therapist may ask you to “Recalibrate” by having you walk Forward & Backwards to reset: Neuro-Muscular-Energetics of the whole system. You may notice continued subtle changes: mental, emotional, physical and energetic. These are to be expected. The effects of Biodynamic Therapy are Subtle and Reflective:
Rescheduling:
We suggest the first 3 sessions be scheduled in a row to start of your healing integration process. This gives time to adjust to this type of therapy (as it is different from most others), and approximately 7-10 day apart. If that is not feasible, then scheduled as closely together as possible: every 2-weeks or once every month for the best results to occur.
