About

Some people come to therapy because something happened. Others come because something has felt off for a long time and they can’t name it. Both are welcome here. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and board-approved Supervisor in Baton Rouge, and I started Oasis Counseling and Supervision to be exactly what the name suggests: a place to set things down, catch your breath, and begin again at your own pace. My work centers on three groups. I support LGBTQ+ clients who are getting to know themselves, including those coming out to themselves before anyone else. There’s no timeline and no label you have to land on. We get curious about what fits, what doesn’t, and who you are underneath what you were taught to be. I also work with couples who feel stuck, disconnected, or tired of having the same fight on repeat. My approach is relational and draws inspiration from Esther Perel and my continuing education in emotionally focused work, though I’m not formally trained in EFT. And I work with survivors of sexual assault who are living with PTSD, helping them move from feeling trapped in their bodies toward feeling safe in them again. For trauma, I use Brainspotting and EMDR. I completed Brainspotting Phases 1 and 2 and continue to seek consultation, and I completed EMDR training. EMDR is a little more structured, and some clients like starting there. I use a light bar and tappers to support the process. Brainspotting is less directive and feels a lot like meditation, so people with a mindfulness practice often take to it naturally. Many clients begin with EMDR and move into Brainspotting once they’re ready. Neither requires you to retell every painful detail, and we always go at the pace your nervous system can handle. Some clients want practical, day-to-day strategies, and I’m happy to work that way. I’ll also be honest when what you’re carrying is bigger than a quick fix, and I’ll invite you deeper only when you’re ready. Beyond individual and couples work, I facilitate grief groups with Hospice of Baton Rouge and supervise counselors working toward licensure. Supporting other clinicians keeps me learning and my own work sharp. My style is warm, down-to-earth, and often a little humorous, because healing doesn’t have to be heavy every minute of every session. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my job is to walk beside you as you figure out what you need. If you’re not sure where to start, that’s okay. Most people aren’t. Reach out, and we’ll take it one step at a time.

🎤 Speaking & Presentations

Available as a speaker / presenter for events, trainings, and workshops.

I’ve been presenting since graduate school, and teaching is one of my favorite parts of this work. Since 2020, I’ve spoken at the Terrell Conference for Mental Health Practitioners, the Law and Ethics in Counseling Conference, and the Louisiana Counseling Association conference, as well as to LSU’s master’s-level internship students and the team at The Grove Recovery Center. My talks cover ethics and the supervisory relationship, peer consultation, countertransference, trauma-informed practice, working with trans clients, and burnout. I keep sessions practical, honest, and a little funny, because nobody learns well when they’re bored.
