Dr. Natalia Martinez, DPT is the founder of Duende Physical Therapy in Berkeley, CA, offering one-on-one pelvic floor and orthopedic physical therapy and serving the East Bay and San Francisco. Natalia studied at Columbia University, earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy at Elon University with a pelvic health clinical rotation, and trained under experienced pelvic health clinicians in Fresno before opening the practice. The practice treats a wide range of pelvic health concerns for patients of all genders: urinary leakage, urgency, frequency and retention, bladder pain and interstitial cystitis, constipation, fecal incontinence and dyssynergia, pelvic, rectal, penile and testicular pain, painful intercourse, vaginismus, vulvodynia and pudendal neuralgia, prolapse, diastasis recti, birth preparation and postpartum recovery, and pre- and post-prostatectomy care. Care also covers trans and nonbinary health, including pre- and post-operative care for gender-affirming surgery, plus orthopedic and sports conditions and return-to-sport rehab. Treatment is investigative and collaborative, combining manual therapy, visceral mobilization, exercise tailored to each person's activities and education toward self-management. Internal exams are always optional. Continuing education includes Herman & Wallace Pelvic Floor Level 1 and visceral fascia courses, Institute of Physical Art functional and visceral mobilization, and pediatric pelvic floor, endometriosis and prostate cancer coursework. Children are welcome at visits. Duende is out of network and does not bill insurance; superbills are provided for insurance, HSA or FSA reimbursement. Medicare is not accepted. Five sliding-scale slots are offered each week for households at or below 500% of the Federal Poverty Level.
