Kristy Setnes, PT, PRPC, is the owner and physical therapist of Desita Care Physical Therapy in St. Paul, Minnesota. A graduate of the University of Minnesota physical therapy program, she has practiced for more than 40 years and treats complex orthopedic conditions of the spine, pelvis, hips, shoulder and neck. For 23 years she was the pelvic health lead specialist at Regions Hospital. She holds the Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification (PRPC) from the Herman & Wallace Institute. Desita Care treats men, women and children. Pelvic health care covers bladder issues (urgency, frequency, stress incontinence, overactive bladder, retention, post-prostatectomy incontinence, cystocele, nocturia, bedwetting, painful urination and interstitial cystitis); bowel concerns (constipation, fecal urgency and incontinence, IBS, painful bowel movements, anal fissures, hemorrhoids and rectocele); female and male pelvic pain (including dyspareunia, vaginismus, vulvodynia, pudendal neuralgia, endometriosis, menopause changes, testicular and penile pain and nonbacterial prostatitis); sexual dysfunction; post-surgical pelvic rehab; and pregnancy and postpartum care. Orthopedic care includes low back pain, sciatica, SI joint, hip, groin, tailbone, knee, shoulder, rib and neck pain and headaches, as well as chronic and persistent pain. Treatment begins with an evaluation and discussion of findings, then an individualized plan built on current evidence. Desita Care has partnered with Minnesota Sport and Spine Rehabilitation to offer care using insurance benefits, with most major plans accepted, and private-pay options are also available.
