About
Hospice of Lake Cumberland is a nonprofit hospice and palliative care organization based in Somerset, Kentucky. It serves patients and families across the Lake Cumberland region from offices in Somerset, Albany, Burkesville, Monticello and Russell Springs, and operates the Jean Waddle Care Center, a hospice suite unit at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Hospice care is provided by an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, counselors, social workers, therapists, chaplains, aides and volunteers. Services include pain and symptom management, medication management, emotional and spiritual support, caregiver education, help with daily living and bereavement support for families. The palliative care program offers symptom management, advance care planning, care coordination and caregiver support for people with serious illness, and does not require a terminal diagnosis; it can be received alongside treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation or dialysis. The organization states that no patient is turned away because of inability to pay. Referrals can be made online or by phone, and staff can be reached around the clock.
