The Commission on Economic Opportunity is a nonprofit community action agency founded in 1966 that works to reduce poverty in Northeastern Pennsylvania. It runs more than 70 programs covering food insecurity, housing, job readiness and energy assistance, and it operates the Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank. The agency reports serving more than 77,000 people in 2023, with offices in Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton and Tunkhannock.
