ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot

The ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot is Austin's signature Thanksgiving Day event, held at the Long Center with the downtown skyline and Lady Bird Lake as a backdrop. The morning offers a timed 5-mile run at 8:30 AM, an untimed 5-mile option at 9:15 AM, a 1-mile walk/run at 9:50 AM, and a Stepping Stone School Kids K for the little ones, so there is a distance for every age and ability. Packet pickup and registration run from 7:00 to 9:00 AM, with a wheelchair start at 8:25 AM. What makes this event special is its charitable heart: 100% of proceeds are donated to Caritas of Austin, which helps people move out of homelessness and toward stability. Thousands of Austinites make this a holiday ritual, walking and running together before their Thanksgiving meal. There is a registration fee since it is a timed, amenity-supported event. Costumes, families, and a festive spirit are all encouraged.
