About this event
The Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot is one of the largest Thanksgiving Day runs in the country, and in 2026 it celebrates its 59th year at Dallas City Hall Plaza. This family fitness tradition offers a 5K run/walk and an 8-mile course, welcoming participants of all abilities: runners, walkers, families pushing strollers, costumed trotters, and leashed dogs are all part of the fun. The 2026 event adds an expanded petting zoo, a soccer field, and City Hall plaza activities to the festivities. Every registered participant receives a long-sleeve shirt, finisher's medal, and race bib. Because this is a timed, amenity-rich event, there is a registration fee that increases as Thanksgiving approaches, so early sign-up saves money. Proceeds support YMCA programs that provide free or reduced-cost access to camp, youth sports, and wellness initiatives for North Texas families. It is a festive, healthy way to begin the holiday with the whole community.
