About this event
NAMIWalks Valley of the Sun is the 22nd annual mental health awareness walk hosted by NAMI Valley of the Sun, held on the morning of Saturday, October 10 at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix. Part of NAMI's national United Day of Hope, the free, family-friendly event brings community members together to walk in support of mental health for all, to share stories of recovery and hope, and to reduce the stigma that still surrounds mental illness. It is free to register and free to attend, with fundraising encouraged to support NAMI's local education, advocacy and peer-support programs. The event runs from roughly 9:00 to 11:30 AM and typically features an opening ceremony, resource fair with local mental health organizations, team gatherings and a welcoming, all-ages atmosphere. Whether someone lives with a mental health condition, supports a loved one, or simply believes in the cause, the walk offers a visible, hopeful way to stand together as a community.
