About this event
The Coachella Valley Out of the Darkness Community Walk offers desert-area residents a free, supportive way to stand together for suicide prevention and mental health. Organized by AFSP, this walk draws survivors of suicide loss, those who have faced their own mental health challenges, and the people who care about them for a morning of remembrance, connection and hope. Many participants wear honor beads whose colors represent their personal tie to the cause, and the event provides a compassionate, stigma-free space to share and heal. Registration is free and open to everyone; while fundraising supports AFSP's life-saving research, education and advocacy, it is not required to walk. On site you'll typically find local mental health and crisis resources plus information about support programs in the Coachella Valley. Walk on your own, form a team, or join an existing one. If you or someone you love is struggling, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7. Come honor a loved one, support a friend, or simply help send the message that healing is possible and no one has to face darkness alone.
