About this event
Offered through Shasta College Community Education in Redding, this eight-session introductory course teaches Xingyiquan, a traditional internal Chinese martial art, over four weeks (Mondays and Wednesdays). It's designed as much for health as for self-defense: students work on body mechanics, structural alignment and internal energy cultivation, learning to move efficiently and with intention. The curriculum draws on the ancient Five Elements framework as a lens for health, philosophy and combat, giving participants both practical technique and a deeper understanding of the art's principles. Because it's an introduction, it's open to newcomers who want a mindful, low-impact way to build strength, coordination and focus while exploring one of the most efficient internal martial arts. Held on the Shasta College campus with paid parking available, it's a welcoming community-education option for North State residents curious about martial arts, movement and holistic wellbeing.
