Balboa Park December Nights

December Nights is San Diego's largest free holiday festival, filling Balboa Park with lights, music and food across two festive days each December. Hosted by the City of San Diego, the celebration features entertainment on multiple stages, dozens of food and beverage vendors, holiday shopping, twinkling decorations, and family-friendly attractions throughout the park's promenades and museums, many of which offer free or extended evening hours during the event. It's a beloved community tradition that draws more than 350,000 people over the weekend, so expect big, joyful crowds and a true cross-section of San Diego. Friday runs 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday noon to 10 p.m. Admission is free; because parking fills fast, organizers encourage transit, shuttles and rideshare.
