Make A Difference Day

Make A Difference Day is one of the nation's largest annual days of community service, observed on the fourth Saturday of October. Coordinated nationally by Points of Light, it encourages individuals, families, schools, businesses and civic groups to organize or join local service projects that address needs in their own neighborhoods. Typical activities include food drives and food-bank sorting, park and neighborhood cleanups, home repairs and builds, collecting coats and supplies for people in need, and visits to seniors. Participation is free and open to everyone, with projects designed for all ages and abilities. To take part, find or register a local project through Points of Light and its HandsOn Network affiliates, or rally your own group around a cause you care about. Check the project listing for times, meeting location and what to bring.
