About this event

Honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy with a morning of service in the parks. On the MLK Day holiday, the Fairmount Park Conservancy leads volunteers at FDR Park in South Philadelphia to care for one of the city's most unique natural spaces, tackling invasive plants and collecting trash around Meadow Lake in preparation for spring plantings. Running from 9:00 AM to noon, it is a hands-on, all-ages-welcome project that turns the day off into a day on for the community. No experience is needed; tools, gloves and guidance are provided, and volunteers should dress for the weather in layers and sturdy shoes. Register in advance online, as popular MLK Day projects fill quickly.
