About this event
The Central New Mexico Walk to End Alzheimer's brings the Albuquerque community together for the Alzheimer's Association's largest awareness and fundraising walk. Open to walkers of every age and ability, the event is free to register, with participants encouraged to form teams and raise funds that power the association's free care and support services, its 24/7 helpline, and research into prevention, treatment and a cure. The heart of the morning is the Promise Garden ceremony, in which participants carry flowers in colors representing their own connection to Alzheimer's and dementia, whether living with the disease, caring for someone, supporting the cause, or walking in memory of a loved one lost. Around the walk, attendees find resource tables, team tents and a warm, supportive community of caregivers, survivors and advocates from across central New Mexico. It is an inclusive, hopeful event that turns personal experiences of dementia into collective action.
