About this event
The Silicon Valley Walk to End Alzheimer's gathers at Lake Cunningham Park in San Jose for a free morning of remembrance, support and community action against Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Check-in begins at 8 a.m., the opening ceremony is at 9:15 a.m., and the walk starts at 9:30 a.m. along an accessible park route. As with every Walk to End Alzheimer's, the emotional high point is the Promise Garden ceremony, where each participant carries a colored flower symbolizing their personal relationship to the disease. There is no registration fee and the event is open to everyone; walkers can form teams with friends, coworkers or family, or simply come out on the day. Around the route, visitors will find information about care and support programs, caregiver resources and the Association's free 24/7 Helpline. Bring the whole family, including strollers and friendly leashed dogs. Funds raised stay in service of local programs and fuel research toward better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
