About this event
The Great Columbia Crossing is a rare chance to run or walk across the towering Astoria-Megler Bridge, the four-mile span over the mouth of the Columbia River that is normally closed to foot traffic. On one October morning the bridge opens to thousands of participants for a 10K course that climbs to the main span's dramatic high point before dropping back toward Astoria. It is as much a scenic experience as a race, welcoming walkers and runners of all abilities, and shuttle buses carry participants to the start. Registration is required and space is limited, so sign up in advance. Dress in layers for coastal wind and river fog, and plan for the shuttle logistics detailed in the event information.
