Clean Ocean Action's Beach Sweeps is New Jersey's flagship statewide beach cleanup, drawing volunteers to more than 80 shoreline sites for a single coordinated morning of stewardship from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Participants collect marine debris and record what they find; that data feeds into annual reports that shape litter-reduction policy at the local, state and federal level. Site captains provide leadership and supplies; volunteers should bring gloves, closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate clothing (a bucket is handy). Volunteers of all ages are welcome, with children under 12 accompanied by an adult, and the sweep happens rain or shine. Registration opens September 1; pick your beach and sign up online. A simple, high-impact way to protect the Jersey Shore.
