About this event

The UW Medicine Seattle Marathon is Seattle's original hometown marathon and the oldest marathon in the Pacific Northwest, held each year on Thanksgiving weekend. Starting and finishing around Seattle Center, the scenic course rolls past the city's iconic bridges, waterways, and skyline, offering marathon and half-marathon distances (with additional events in the series). While it draws serious runners, it is very much a community tradition, welcoming first-timers, walkers on the longer cutoff, charity runners, and spectators who line the route. Many participants use it as a goal race to cap the year or to run off the holiday feasting. Registration is required and varies by distance, and the event relies on a large corps of community volunteers. Whether you are chasing a personal best or simply want to be part of a decades-old Seattle ritual on a crisp late-November morning, it is a signature Pacific Northwest running event.
