About this event
The Honolulu Marathon is one of the largest marathons in the world and a signature December event in Hawaii, billed as '26.2 miles in paradise.' Starting in the pre-dawn dark at 5 a.m. near Ala Moana in Honolulu, the course passes downtown, Waikiki, and Diamond Head before finishing at Kapiolani Park. Famous for its welcoming Aloha spirit and no time limit, it draws a huge international field of runners and walkers of every ability, including many first-time marathoners. Related weekend events include a start-line fireworks display and a shorter Start to Park run. It is a public, participatory event open to registered entrants, with spectators welcome along the course. Practical notes: register in advance; the early start and tropical humidity make hydration and pacing important, and there is no course time limit.
