Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta

Damariscotta Pumpkinfest is one of Maine's most distinctive fall traditions, taking over the small midcoast town during Columbus Day weekend with giant pumpkins, elaborately carved and decorated jack-o'-lanterns, and the famous pumpkin regatta in which hollowed-out giant pumpkins are paddled and motored across the harbor. The multi-day celebration also features a pumpkin drop, catapulting contests, a parade, food, and plenty of family activities throughout the downtown. It is a quirky, joyful community event that pulls in visitors from all over New England, and most of the street festivities are free to enjoy.
