About this event
Sweep the Hooch is Chattahoochee Riverkeeper's massive annual volunteer cleanup of the Chattahoochee River, its creeks and access points across metro Atlanta and the wider river basin. The 2027 event is set for Saturday, March 20, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, with volunteer registration opening in February 2027. Volunteers sign up for a specific site as either a walker/wader (working the banks and shallows) or a paddler (cleaning from a canoe or kayak). The prior year drew roughly 1,400 volunteers across dozens of sites and pulled more than 30 tons of trash and recyclables from the watershed. Participation is free but registration at sweepthehooch.org is required, and popular sites fill up, so sign up early. Contact [email protected] for group registrations.
