About this event

COASTSWEEP is Massachusetts's statewide beach cleanup, sponsored by the state Office of Coastal Zone Management as part of the international Ocean Conservancy cleanup. Most cleanups happen in September and October (with some in late August and November), and a searchable list of specific cleanups is posted and updated weekly from mid-August into November. Volunteers pick a cleanup near them, contact the site coordinator to sign up, and spend a few hours removing and recording marine debris from beaches, marshes and shorelines. The tallied data helps track and reduce the trash that harms coastal wildlife and habitats. To be notified as new cleanups are posted, volunteers can join the COASTSWEEP email list. It's a flexible, family-friendly way to give a few hours to Massachusetts's coast.
