About this event

As Rhode Island's coordinator for the global International Coastal Cleanup, Save The Bay organizes dozens of shoreline cleanups across the state from September through November 2026, clustered around International Coastal Cleanup Day (the third Saturday of September). Volunteers of all ages remove trash and marine debris from beaches, coves and riverbanks and record what they find; that data feeds a worldwide database used by policymakers to fight ocean pollution. You can join an organized cleanup at a site near you or clean independently and log your haul with the Clean Swell app. Volunteer leaders (ages 16+, or 13+ with a trained parent) are also needed. Check the volunteer portal for the searchable, updated list of specific dates and locations. It's a hands-on, family-friendly way to protect Narragansett Bay and Rhode Island's coast.
