The Give Life NY 5K Run/Walk raises awareness and funds for organ, eye and tissue donation at Long Island's Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. Co-directed by living donors, the event donates net proceeds to IRS-recognized organ-donation-awareness organizations. The 5K run/walk starts at 8:30 a.m. near the Field House, preceded by a free quarter-mile Kids Fun Run at 8:00 a.m.; a mail-home virtual 5K is offered for those who can't attend. All participants receive finisher medals, and in-person registrants receive a long-sleeve shirt and post-race refreshments. It's an inclusive, family-friendly morning celebrating the gift of life and encouraging people to register as donors.
