Mental Health Awareness Month: 5 Simple Ways to Check In, on Yourself and Others

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a good nudge to do something we rarely make time for: an honest check-in. Here are five small, doable ways.

1. Ask yourself one honest question Not "Am I fine?", we always say fine. Try: "How have I actually been sleeping, eating, and feeling this past week?" The specifics tell the truth.

2. Notice the drift Mental health rarely changes overnight; it drifts. Less interest in things you used to enjoy, a shorter fuse, pulling away from people, these quiet shifts matter more than any single bad day.

3. Check in on someone else, simply You don't need the perfect words. "You've been on my mind, how are you, really?" and then *listening* is enough. You're not there to fix; you're there to be with.

4. Lower the bar for getting help Reaching out doesn't mean something is "wrong enough." Therapy, coaching, a support group, or even a good conversation are for maintenance too, not just crisis.

5. Know where to turn before you need it The hardest time to search for help is when you're already overwhelmed. Bookmark a couple of options now.

If today is that day: on Wellyoh you can search by what you're going through, filter to what fits you, and reach out on your terms, your message goes only to the provider you choose. And if you're in crisis, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) anytime.

Small check-ins add up. Yours counts too.
